To find the inverse of an equation, simply change the x variables to y's and the y's to x's. Then solve again for y. In your case, you're given the equation y=8x^3 - 3 Flip the x's and y's: x = 8y^3 - 3 and now solve for y. x+3 = 8y^3 (x+3)/8 = y^3 [(x+3)/8]^(1/3) = y so the answer should be the first choice.
