When you solve (x + 7)^2 = 0 for x, you get x = -7 this will have a multiplicity of 2 because that is the exponent visually, this means that the parabola touches the x axis at -7. It does not cross over the x axis and come back up.
so (x-7)^3 would be root 7 and multiplicity of 3?
