If the discriminant of a quadratic equation is -4, how many solutions the equation have?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well every quadratic has 2 solutions.... in this case the solutions are both complex

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

this is sometimes referred to as no real solutions... which means the solutions aren't real numbers they are complex numbers

OpenStudy (cj49):

when the discriminant is negative there are no real solutions.
