How to find the length of vector if its in \[\left(\begin{matrix}3 \\ 9\end{matrix}\right)\]

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

are there any choices or is it like were you have to show your work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i just want to know the method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its just to square root each number

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

well i m sorry i dont know how to do it but i know someone that can help you fast.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

|dw:1410869264040:dw| Length = sqrt(3^2 + 9^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means im right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but there is small confusion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@math&ing001

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

What your confusion ?

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

none of the guys that i know forsure are good with math are on right now sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the vector is \[\left(\begin{matrix}-5 \\ -5\end{matrix}\right)\] how can we do this

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

It's the same thing |dw:1410869581058:dw| length = sqrt( (-5)^2 + (-5)^2 )

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

Look shell here it is the formula sqrt(a^2+b^2) So just put the values in it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya but im not getting it if i square root -5-5 im not getting anything

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

You don't square root -5 you square root (-5)^2+(-5)^2 = 25 + 25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thanks

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Welcome !

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

Sqrt [(-5)^2+(-5)^2 ]

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

So after it it will be Sqrt 25 +25 Sqrt50
