6 and -6 are correct because:

\(6^2 = 36\)

\(-6^2 = 36\) also.

Remember, a negative times a negative always equals a positive so when you multiply -6 by itself, it comes out as a positive 36.

Yes, giving away answers is prohibited by the Code Of Conduct @MrNood and @iGreen
Reading that is the first thing we do as ambassadors.
However in a few cases like this one, there is not much explaining to do. Simply mentioning -6 would remind him that negatives work too as roots for positive numbers.
