In April 2011, a bank gave the following exchange rates. 1 euro = 0.623 British pounds. 1 euro = 1936 Italian lire. (a) Calculate how much one pound was worth in lire. (b) Calculate how much one million lire was worth in pounds.

OpenStudy (shinalcantara):

a) since both the values are equal to 1 euro then you can equate pounds to lire: 0.623 pounds = 1936 lire dividing both sides by 0.623 you'll get 1 pound = 3,107.54 lires b) if there are 0.623 pounds in 1936 lires then, 1,000,000 lires = 1,000,000 lires(0.623pounds/1936lires) = 321.80 pounds

Thank you.😌
