can you explain step by step plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first multiply 8 with y and 5, you will left hand side as \[8y - 40\] now the equation becomes \[8y - 40 = 6y-18\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[8y - 6y = 40 -18\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2y = 22\] so \[y = 11\]
