7+x=1/2 (4x-2) First you have to get rid of your parentheses by taking everything inside them multiplied by the outside number (so 1/2 X 4x and 1/2x-2) now you should have this 7+x= 2x-1 now you add 1 to both sides to get 8+x=2x next you divide both sides by 2 to get 8+.5x=0 now subtract the 8 .5x=-8 divide both sides by .5 x=-16 going through i realized I missed a step so I got two instead but it should be -16
