whats 3.7 + -9.3? i thought it was 12.0 but apparently not. its actually -5.6 What am I doing wrong?

3.7 + -9.3 is the same as saying 3.7-9.3 when adding and subtracting negative numbers.

the positiveness was canceled out by the neg. because
if I have 4 cards and tell my brother that I will positively give him nothing that means I will give him no cards. ;)
