The vast majority of antibiotics that target prokaryotes do some sort of protein attack. This is because prokaryotes are so different to eukaryotes that it is a great place to disrupt the bacteria. Lots of the drugs target proteins involved in forming the cell wall, which is made of peptidoglycans and unique to bacteria.
