2I3x-1I+2=10?

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Equation: \(213x-11+2=10\) Is it?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

those are absolute value bars....not ones

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

2 | 3x + 1 | + 2 = 10....is that the problem ?

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Which are the absolute value bars? Hard to tell

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oops....3x - 1 in the bars

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

2 | 3x - 1 | + 2 = 10 --- subtract 2 from both sides 2 | 3x - 1 | = 8 --- divide both sides by 2 | 3x - 1 | = 4 3x - 1 = 4 3x = 4 + 1 3x = 5 x = 5/3 -(3x - 1) = 4 -3x + 1 = 4 -3x = 4 - 1 -3x = 3 x = -1 x = 5/3 and x = -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 3 X-1 are in the absolute vaule bars

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

you want to get the absolute value bars (and everything in them) on one side of the equal sign, and everything else on the other side

Thanks @ texaschic101
