Can someone please help me understand absolute value equations I have a question or two so that I can get help and practice at the same time. Thanks to whoever decides to help me understand this! :)

Solve for x: |x| − 8 = −5 x = −13 and x = −3 x = 3 and x = −3 x = 3 and x = 13 No solution

I think previous explanation is wrong. Sorry. For abs values equations - isolate abs value first adding 8 on both sides |x| = 3 Then get rid of abs value bars: x = 3 and x = -3 those are the answers

I kind of understand this not much but, I appreciate your help! :)

Solve for x: -3|x + 7| = -12 x = 5 over 3, x = −19 over 3 x = −3, x = −11 x = −3, x = 11 No solution Can you explain step by step what to do here so that I can do this on my own with your guidance?
