Effects of the 2nd industrial revolution and how it is different from the 1st?
I can tell you the different effects of the Second Industrial Revolution (and in the same style of last question), but using the information of the last question and this question, I think you can compare and contrast the First and the Second Industrial Revolution yourself. :)
Agriculture -farm production increased as new technology developed -the US economy shifted from agriculture-based to industry-based -fewer farmers were needed to produce enough food for the country's population (why do you think?) Business/Political -large business organizations began to form, squeezing business from smaller operations -labor unions became more organized as workers began to fight for equality and fairness Social -a lot of people moved to the US to work in industry -cities began to grow up and out with more than half of the population living in urban areas -new social classes (lower, middle, upper) -living conditions in cities deteriorated as populations increased and saniation and inadequate housing emerged. Technology -advancements in commuication (telephone, telegraph) united the country -development of a process to refine oil improved transportation and machine operations -an abundance of steel heped launch the construction of heavy machinery and railroads Transportation -railroads linked isolated regions of the country to the rest of the US -cheap steel led to the completion of the transcontinental railroad
thnx. R u good in bio?
