'Though harder than all the others' is modifying Jeanne when it should be modifying puzzle. So it should be something like: Jeanne finished her puzzle, though harder than all the others, before her friends finished theirs.

Since rivers can't climb, it should be: As we were climbing up the canyon, the Colorado River glittered in the sun far below us. Maybe you can take a look at this: http://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-misplaced-modifiers.html , which explains misplaced modifiers, and try to figure out the answers and I'll tell you if you're correct or not. I don't want to be just handing out the answers! :)
