I've found answers for this question online already but none of them use a factoring method in the answer like my teacher wants. So if someone can help me factor that'd be great, this is the question: A rectangular lawn measures 7m by 5m. A uniform border of flowers is to be planted along two adjacent sides of the lawn, as shown in the diagram. If the flowers that have been purchased will cover an area of 6.25m2, how wide is the border?

I made this equation: 35+6.25=(5+x)(7+x) and narrowed it down to 0=x2+12x-6.25 but I don't know where to go from there
