a compact disc recording company's weekly costs can be described by the equation cost = 5000 + 7n, when n is the number of compact discs manufactured in one week. The equation for the amount of income produced from selling these n discs is "income =18n". At least how many discs need to be manufactured and sold in one weeek for the income to be greater than the cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one week = n + 7 in this problem?

this word problem involves inequalities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5000 + 7n greater >_ x ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is 455 or more need to be sold... This is a complicated problem for me because of the words

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi fiya, well the answer to your problem lies inside the words, for instance. income = 18n and, 5000 +7n

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh now what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you simply just set the problem up by putting the income on the other side of the inequality and 5000 + 7n before it, like this 5000 + 7n >_ 18n. subtract 7n and you get 11n divide into 5000 454.6 rouned to 450 dics

Oh ok thanks for the help fiya
