Given f (x) = 5x + 6 on the domain of all real numbers, find f ^-1(x). Be sure to write your answer as a function of x. Would it be -6/5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-6)/5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the computer marked my answer wrong and I don't know what I did wrong

OpenStudy (aum):

Yes. \(f^{-1}(x) = (x-6)/5\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks. It's probably because I didn't originally include the parantheses.

OpenStudy (aum):

Without the parenthesis it would be wrong because only 6 will be divide by 5 instead of (x-5).
