There are two types of cells, eukaryotes and prokaryotes. In eukaryote cells, proteins are made in the cytoplasm of the cell by ribosomes. In prokaryote cells, proteins are made in the cytoplasm by ribosomes while the DNA is still being transcribed into RNA.
