find the general equation of each line; that is, write the equation in the form Ax+By=c for (0,0) and (2,1)

Well we can use these 2 points to determine slope using (y2 - y1)/(x2-x1) = m Then we can use one of the points to stand for x and y in the equation y = mx+b Using the slope we found 'm'. Then we solve for b, getting the y-intercept. Then we use the slope and y-intercept in the y = mx+b equation. Then we change around the equation to fit the form Ax + By = C

Is one way. Perhaps not the easiest way, but it works, for sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ax + By = c (0,0) --> A.0 + B.0 = c --> c = 0 (2,1) --> A.2 + B.1 = c = 0 --> B = -2A --> Ax - 2Ay = 0 --> x - 2y = 0
