Don't know if anybody knows the answer to this question since it is in anatomy and physiology but I couldn't find that subject so I'm using this. Can anyone help? Why are skeletal remains present long after death?

It takes a long time for the large number of cells to break down. Osteoblasts are the first cells to die when blood stops circulating. Mineralization of salts forms a hard, tightly packed matrix. Bones are covered with an impermeable membrane.
