OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

What is the equation of the absolute value function? Can someone check my work?

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

\[y=6\left| x+2 \right|-2\]\[y=-6\left|-x-2 \right| +2\]\[y=-6\left| x+2 \right| -2\]\[y=-6\left| x-2 \right| -2\]

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

I got \[y=-6\left| x+2 \right| +2\]

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

are those your 4 options to choose from?

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

Yes

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

none of these make sense, it should be \(y=6|x+2|+2\) o_O

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

So then what do I pick or is closest to the answer, if none of them are the correct answer?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

I have no idea. Biut none of them are correct :S if the number in front of | | is negative, then the graph should be at least flipped over

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

True

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

maybe someone made a typo when they wrote \(-2\) they meant \(+2\) for choice A?

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

Perhaps

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

not too sure what to say otherwise, sorry :(

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

It's okay. Thank you for your help though. :)
