kevin ran 4 miles more than steve. the sum of the distance is 26 miles. how far did steve run?

The answer is 22

Thank you but the answer I got was Steve ran 11 miles. If it was 22 then that would mean Kevin only ran 4 miles because the total miles ran was 26 total but Kevin ran 4 more than Steve. I have to find how many miles Steve ran. Its replacement sets and I'm stuck on how to write out the equation to come up with the solution. I have to define the variable, write the expressions and equation. Please help.
