Who conducted experiments to determine the quantity of charge carried by an electron?

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Milkman oil drop :D

Robert Millikan

What he did was....... he shot electrons into dropping oil. He had an electric field that pointed down. So the positive is on top and negative on the bottom. Oil drop that suspended in air was negatively charged and was attracted to the positive pole that was on top. We then knew that the electron is negatively charges or 1.6 X 10-27 Coulomb I think.
