A rocket blasts off. In 10.0 seconds it is at 10,000 ft, traveling at 3600 mph. Assuming the direction is up, calculate the acceleration. (Hint: the rocket is not under constant acceleration).

Given that it tells you that it is NOT constant acceleration, then asks you to calculate 'the acceleration' I think this question is unanswerable. You need some clue as to the acceleration profile, even if the question really means 'find the instantaneous acceleration at the point given...
