I don't want any groups; I want the moderators to do their jobs and the kids to sit down and do what they agreed to do when they signed up for this site. Stop putting words in my mouth and saying I'm against people helping. There are things the world are ready for and some things they are not. And what im taking from this convo is that people aren't overly fond of when another group of people are able to have power like the mods and make things change. Seriously, lets sit down and think this through.
1. No one likes trolls.
2. Sometimes trolls need to be reminded that they are behaving badly
3. You can report them - and let the mods take care of it
4. You can take action yourself.

The danger with 4 is if in trying to help OS get rid of trolls, you end up violating Rule 1 of the Code of Conduct, "Be NICE".
How do you know when you have done that? Well, when someone gets mad - then it is a clue that maybe, you could have been nicer. There are two parts to this.
1. If the supposed troll gets mad
2. If the other OS users get mad - i.e. the non trolls.

So we have moderators who are trained to be mature and nice even when they are handing out justice. We have ambassadors who are younger, and also receive a lot of training to be nice.
If we add a vigilante group, undeads, I would ask you to gather and be trained in being nice. This is important. Personally you should all apply to become ambassadors. But if you don't, and want to operate as a vigilante group, but with my blessings, then the most important requirement is that we go over what being nice is and what it isn't. What do you think?

not denying this guys but what is your intent for changing os and making it better for the users that actually want to get work done and i've noticed that they're are trolls like @abb0t and @alcons they are very annoying but i just want to know how making a clan would help why don't you say group because clan sounds like a bunch of jerks not to be mean or anything but i still would like to know how you would make os a better place by adding a group or a clan then many people woul be coming up to @Preetha or any other mods saying that they want a clan and they would have no purpose to that clan but they just want one cause other people have one

Being nice is different from solving a problem. I liked Preetha's explanation; she's being nice and solving a problem. She managed to cool everyone off without telling them that they've been reported fifty times. That's also why I like the mods, Eric, Ashley, etc never just go off on users-- they remain calm and wait it out. If you would be mature about the way you help OS, I'd love to see this happen. That's the problem, though, you're not calm and cool about it. Just try a different tactic and maybe you'll get a better reaction :)

Hmmm. I hear ya. I wish everyone would adopt Dangerous' vision - where everyone just obeys the COC , but it appears difficult for many to adopt.
IS the problem you are trying to solve, that there are many trolls and you want them to stop? And there are not enough mods to stop them? SO you have to take action on your own by telling them to stop - and this ends up being a bit of um, unpleasant?

Promoting peace and reducing tension while simultaneously enforcing the Code of Conduct is something there's already a position for; it's called an, "Ambassador."

"Spam control," can only really be avoided by disciplinary actions, which is what moderators are for.

Suggestion: simply apply for an Ambassador position.

Currently, your vigilante group has no formal training and little credentials with OpenStudy. Write up a document, set some rules, screen your applicants, be organized and have a clear motive.

What makes your group any different than Ambassadors?
What can you do for OpenStudy?
What sets your affiliation apart from previous ones?
