A battery of 2 volts e.m.f is connected to a circuit of 150 ohms resistance including internal resistance and a galvanometer 56 ohms the terminals of the galvanometer are connected in parallel to a resistor allows 1/5 of the current to pass through the galvanometer. Find the total current and galvanometer current. I have the final results: 5/403, 1/403 respectively.

your numbers look right to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes but I need to know the steps, the final results are only for me to check so I typed them. But I dunno how to solve it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol - ah okay, i thought you had it all worked out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the description was a bit confusing when i first read it, i'd suggest sketching out a circuit diagram first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure how it would look.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well to measure current, a galvanometer has to be connected in series in the circuit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since resistance of galvanometer is less than that of resistor , so how come current through galvanometer is only 1/5 of the current

here's a circuit diagram|dw:1411149910103:dw|
