to turn a mixed number into an improper fraction take the whole number and multiply it by the denominator, then add that to the numerator, putting that over the original denominator. 2 2/3 --- take the whole number (2) and multiply it by the denominator (3)...giving us 6...now add that to the numerator(2)....giving us 8....now put that over the original denominator (3)...giving us 8/3 understand ?
