EASY ALGEBRA WORD PROBLEM!? Helen has a collection of dimes and nickles. There are 345 coins in the collection. There are 18 more dimes than nickles. Find the number of each type of coin. Please explain the entire problem and how to solve and set it up. Thanks

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

is that the whole problem? do the specific number of coins add up to a value?

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

unless a value is given in dollars/cents i don't see how this would be solved; with this amount of info it would just be any number of dimes that is 18 more than nickle; which add up to 345
