What is the measure of the indicated central angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1411162420425:dw|

OpenStudy (phi):

do they want the angle in degrees or radians?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

degrees

OpenStudy (phi):

try this: \[ s = r \theta\] replace s with pi and r with 9 can you do that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.14 = 9

OpenStudy (phi):

you should leave pi as pi (it will cancel ) also don't leave out the theta. Let's use x instead of theta (easier to type) s = r x pi = 9 x to get "x" (the angle) by itself, divide both sides by 9 pi/9 = (9/9)x or pi/9 = x the central angle is pi/9 radians can you change that to degrees?

OpenStudy (phi):

multiply by 180/pi \[ \frac{\pi}{9} \cdot \frac{180}{\pi} \] to get degrees
