A cylindrical barrel has a radius of 7.6 ft and a height of 10.8 ft. Tripling which dimension(s) will triple the volume of the barrel?

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know the formula fro the volume of a cylinder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it dosent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pi*r^2*h

OpenStudy (phi):

if you use Angler's formula and triple the radius (put in 3r) instead of r you get pi*(3r)^2 * h (3r)^2 means 3r*3r= 9*r^2 or 9r^2 and you get 9 pi r^2 h which is 9 times bigger than the original pi r^2 h

OpenStudy (phi):

try the same thing using 3h instead of h

geeze u guys are smarter than me thanks !
