write in interval notation: all real numbers less than or equal to 8

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is your attempt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that was my attempt i just dont know how to write it the original question was f(x)=√8-x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=\sqrt{8-x}\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and you are trying to define the domain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (amistre64):

interval notation gives us endpoints inside of brackets

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if an end point is part of the solution that it equals it, the bracket is an equal sign with a bar connecting it: |dw:1411358735435:dw| otherwise its just the ( or )

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so we know we have end points if -inf and 8 -inf,8 -inf can never be equaled so we have ( and 8 is equaled so it has ] (-inf,8] is the interval defining the domain

thank you !
