A theme park company is opening a marine-inspired park in your city. They are in the process of designing the theatre where a killer whale show will take place. The following design is already under construction and will house the whales that perform in the show:
Main Show Tank Calculation: The main tank has a radius of 70 feet. What is the volume of the quarter-sphered sized tank? Round your answer to the nearest whole number. You must explain your answer using words, and you must show all work and calculations to receive credit.
@satellite73 @cwrw238
You should divide the volume of the sphere by 4, to get the volume of a 1/4 sphere
volume of sphere is v = 4/3 * pi * r^3 right ?
Yes
so v = 4/3 * 3.14 * 70 ^ 3 = 1.436026 ?
1.436026 / 4 = .3590065 so that rounded to the nearest whole number is .... ? (idk)
Step 1- V=4/3(pi*70^3) Step 2-V=4/3(pi*343000) Step 3-V=1372000*pi/3
Step 4-V=1436755/4 Step 5-359189 feet cubed
So you pretty much had it right :)
ohhhhh and thats the answer ?
359189 ? or do i have to do something else ?
I did the problem using ALL whole numbers, but if you do the problem and add the decimal points you'll come up with this answer: 359006.6675
i just did the math again... how come you get that ? this is what i get... V = 4/3 (3.14 * 70^3) V = 4/3 (3.14 * 343000) V = 4/3 (1077020) V = 4/3 * 1077020 V =
This is what i did:
4/3*3.14(70^3)=1436026.67
Then i took that answer and...
1436026.67/4=359006.6675
The answer that site gave you was the answer in scientific notation. Once you solve that ( http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=0.1436026+*+10%5E7++) You get 1436026. And you take that answer and divide it by 4 to get your answer of 359006.6
ohhhhhh ok thanks so much!! ;D
No problem! :)
If you need anymore help with anything else. Just ask and i'll help ;)
yay thanks :)
