What is the general rule for multiplying two inequalities together, please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Example: \[a > \sqrt{n}\] \[b > \sqrt{n}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We are supposed to get \[ab > n\] from these two. I am trying to find the name of the General Rule of this property and how to apply it properly for mathematical proofs.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

i hardly think it has a name

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there a way to prove it or show how it is constructed? Like what is the logic behind it?

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

take a =4,b=5,n=9

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

put in all three equalities

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

the third will stand true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see! Thanks
