so my math is asking to explain why its a function or not and what dose it mean to list the element's domain also and its range ??
The domain is all the values that are allowed for x, and the range is all the possible values of y. Are you given an equation, or a list of ordered pairs? If ordered pairs, the domain is all the x's (the 1st value of each ordred pair), and the range is all the y's (the 2nd value).
a list of paired numbers
OK. The domain and range is as I said above. As for whether it is a function, it is a function if every x is paired to ONLY 1 value for y. E.g., no 2 pairs have the SAME value of x, but with DIFFERENT values of y. if that's true, then it's a function. If not, then it isn't.
ooohhh so if its (1,1) (2,4) (3,9) then its going to be domine : 1,2 , 3 range : 1,4,9 right ?
Exactly! And what do you think, is that a function?
yes ! :D because none of the first number have two different outcomes. thank you so much for your help !
