I know some things but i can honestly say i'm completely stucked and i need help!

So here it goes:
Lake Victoria is a large lake in Africa. The lake is home to a group of related fishes called the cichlids. Many of these fish groups are similar in appearance but their feeding habits differ. You want to determine if the chchlids groups are different species or just members of one large population containing a lot of variation. Design an experiment.

well, there are several ways to answer this question and some of them are answers that I do not know but other than that the thing I do know is that fishes have different areas of the water that they live in, they are, the twilight zone, the midnight zone and the morning zone feeding habits vary depending on where the fish are and what their diet consists of. does this help?
