Determine if the following function is odd, even, or neither. f(x) = -3x + 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is \(f(3)\) ?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

If you can replace f(x) with f(-x) and the function is the same as what you started with, it's even. If you replace f(x) with f(-x) and get exactly the opposite all the way through the function (pertaining to signs, that is), it is an odd function. If you replace f(x) with f(-x) and don't get either exactly the same or exactly the opposite, the function is neither even or odd. You could also graph it to see which it is, if any.
