OpenStudy (vlery):

if -i^4=-1 then would -xi^4 be 2x?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

-xi^4 -x(1) -x So -xi^4 = -x and not 2x

OpenStudy (vlery):

awesome thanks also: when (x+i)(x-i) is factored it gives me (x^2-i^2) so would that polynomial stand or would I have to add 1(-i^2=1) onto x^2?

OpenStudy (vlery):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I would do (x+i)(x-i) x^2 - i^2 x^2 - (-1) x^2 + 1

OpenStudy (vlery):

ok thanks
