In your own words, explain how Dalton's theory of atoms helped in the development of the modern atomic theory.

Rutherford's experiments were the first to show that all of the positive charge of an atom is concentrated in a centrally located nucleus and that the negatively charged electrons occupied the space around the nucleus, and that the atom is mostly empty space.
