If the coordinates are just 3 and 5 the y (or x) coordinates must be the same. It doesnt matter whether its the x or y coordinates that are the same its a straight horizontal line or a straight vertical line. In that case, the midpoint is just the mean or average of the end points: mid point = (3 +5)/2 = 4.
