PLEASE HELP - Slopes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help would be appreciated :)

OpenStudy (popitree):

check when x = 2, y = ??; so it would be y/x,

OpenStudy (popitree):

actually it is change in y divided by change in x, but since it is plotted with origin0,0 u are safe with y/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is y and x? o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 0.10?

OpenStudy (aum):

Slope = rise / run = (20 - 0) / (2 - 0) = 10 minutes / mile. Runner's speed is measured in miles per minute and so in this problem it is the reciprocal of the slope. So it is 1 / 10 miles / minute = 0.1 miles / min.

OpenStudy (popitree):

in qstn it is minutes/mile

OpenStudy (aum):

Oh, okay. In that case it is just the slope and the runner's speed is 10 minutes / mile.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks alot guys!!

OpenStudy (aum):

you are welcome.

OpenStudy (popitree):

no issue
