anyone have any advice on how to start writing my own songs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would stay start by thinking about what genre you would focus on mainly.

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

yeah...based on what you like and what you believe

OpenStudy (itsbribro):

i already write but i feel like the lyrics i write suck i just wanted to know if anyone would have any better advice!!!

OpenStudy (itsbribro):

@kaylaprincess do you have an opinion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just write what comes in your heart.... What you feel inside and dont think of what others with think. Them just put your words to music and BAM! youve gotta song.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I like to write poems and from my creative writing, it just comes from the heart, all you have to do is let if flow in you and you'll have the perfect song

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

write about what you love most or what comes to you easily, for me, Its up-beat, quick music, and for my friend in our band, its the slow songs. I can write both but not as good as hers. And obviously girls usually write about guys and vise versa. But Christian music goes both ways, you dont have to write about a certain person/gender in that genre. You don't even have to write about a guy, you could write about cheese if you wanted. I know a friend who wrote a song about St.Patricks day and Leprechauns. ♫Down by the bay on St.Patrick's Day, down by the bay on St. Patrick's day♫ except she was like 8 when she wrote it...

Do what you love. If you have the talent, you can do about anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write from your heart. If somebody says they don't like it, tell them to suck it. This is you and if that's not good enough for them, then they're missing out on something amazing. Inspirational speaker--- out! c:

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

It sounds like you just need to keep organized. You got the words/lyrics, you just need to make them sound right. It also depends if you're going to make a short song, ( which if you're new to writing songs; i highly suggest shorter ones rather than to write long songs. ) whether it rhymes or is just break out poetic music... revise revise and revise !!!! looks for grammatical errors. The rest is up to you. Take suggestions from people and don't give them the finger, musicians must always keep an open mind and look for improvement. I hope you do well. If you have any more questions just dm me ~ Kayla Princess
