what is a "thesis" and how do i come up with one?
It's like a statement or, a long essay or dissertation involving personal research but it depends what do you have to write your thesis about???
Well my essay has to include "a well written thesis" my essay is about the Differences between United states History in the years of 1776 and 1870.
Well than you just have to write a statement about the Differences between the United States History in the years of 1776 and 1870. You can also search Google for examples of a thesis and that should give you some ideas, also if you have a History book you can look in there for information. :)
I already have all my information for the essay i might still need to find a little bit more here and there but all in all im pretty good with information. Would a thesis for this topic be like... The Greatly known events and changes of the United States between the years of 1776 and 1870 are compared with detail and orientation. ^^^^^^^^ i don't understand!!
Oh okay and that should be a fine topic because your talking about the topic they gave you, and once you devolpe the thesis I think you should be fine
this is the site I used to help write mine

just state the facts for ex; the three key changes in the U.S. between 1776 and 1870 are....
and should directly answers the question asked of you, state a claim
*answer sorry
but isn't a thesis a statement that is before all of your writing telling about what you are writing about?
This is a nice video about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChvlrZFcmU4 In a thesis statement you: Take a stand!! State your opinion. Map out your paper!! Make sure the reader will know what you are going to talk about. ANSWER THE QUESTION ASKED. *Usually the last sentence in the first paragraph of your essay* Examples: "Weak thesis statement: India has a lot of interesting festivals. The statement is too broad--the writer can't discuss all Indian festivals. Even though it does state the writer's opinion, the statement is not clear: it doesn't explain why the festivals are interesting. Strong thesis statement: Diwali is an important festival for Indians because they celebrate, remember traditional legends, and enjoy time with their families." I got the examples from http://grammar.about.com/od/tz/g/Thesis-Statement.htm
I would also like to add that most statements are written as like one sentence or so, but a really advanced and good thesis statement should be about a paragraph.
@221emily , yup you're right:)
