well if you look at it, it's basically and equation that can be coverted to the difference of 2 squares think about \[x^4 - 1 = (x^2)^2 - 1\] then it can be factored \[(x^2 - 1)(x^2 + 1) \] then the 1st binomial can be factored again... the 2nd can't be factored. hope it helps
