The Ottomans then went on to conquer the major cities of Asia Minor, such as Nicea; then parts of the Balkans - including most of Greece, Thrace, Bulgaria, and Serbia - before conquering Adrianople, then Constantinople in 1453. Expansion into Egypt and North Africa began in the early 16th century. The empire reached its full extent when it reached almost the borders of Vienna, in 1643.
