WILL MEDAL x-2 over x^2 +3x-10

OpenStudy (nfcfox):

Lets factor the denominator. We can use -2 and 5 from the -10 as the -2+5 will equal our +3x that is in the middle. Therefore we get: (x-2)(x+5) in the denominator. The x-2 in the numerator and denominator can cancel which leaves us with 1/(x+5). Assuming we are not solving for x there is nothing else we can do. Therefore the answer is 1/(x+5)
