Could someone explain to me graphing linear equations and inequalities?
Sure I will!
Thankkk you
http://www.purplemath.com/modules/ineqlin.htm here Is a liink were are int he info is
I do online school and my math teacher is in California and I'm in turkey, so theres a big time difference, and he asks me to stay up at 4 am to do an iclass to help me on said subject, when I did last night, he bailed last minute so I'm annoyed and confused about this topic
He linked me to that website but I have no interest in website because they are useless to me
aaa i see OH and I almost forgot there is a Video too so you can se how hat teacher does all of it hope you enjoy it and have a great day!
I already watched 6-8 videos and none of which helped me since I have questions
But thank you~ c:
what part of the topic do you need the help with?
That is the topic, literally. I have no idea about anything on it
@mathmale
you should have gone over how to plot points, or make a table of points to plot by this stage
maybe if you had a more specific example to work with?
a line can be constructed it we know at least 2 points on the line. plot the points and draw the line between them. the inequality construction uses the line as a boundary and shades a side that contains points that make it true
But I just.. I don't know how to make a graph based on a question. I might know, but I'm confused about it. Should I post an example here from my lesson?
Ok.
Basically, imagine a grid.
is there a specific problem that we can work with? that might help out some.
yes, post an example from your lesson
01.05 Writing the Equation of a Line
Is what its called
Write the equation of the line passing through (2, -1) with a slope of 2 in standard form.
there are many formats of a line equation, the format called point slope uses the slope and a point to create the parts of the equation with
That will explain graphing linear equations.
from there its just reworking it into standard form. what does your material give you for the point slope formula?
The standard form of a linear equation is ax + by = c, where a, b, and c are integers and a is also positive. The slope-intercept form of a linear equation is y = mx + b, where m represents the slope and b is the y-intercept.
slope intercept, we dont have an intercept, only a point in general
point slope format, it might be called slope point format but that just sounds wierd to me
What if you were given the slope and a point on the line, but not the y-intercept? Don't worry, there is one more form you can use. The point-slope form of a linear equation is y – y1 = m(x – x1). The variable m still represents the slope of the line while (x1, y1) is an ordered pair of any point on that line.
Pfff I'm sorry
good lets use that one
y – y1 = m(x – x1).
WHY ARE THERE QUESTION MARKS
lets use the point (a,b) y-b = m(x-a)
the site has some encoding issues lately that doesnt interpret certain inputs
if youare copy pasting, then you are most likely to get the black diamond marks
Launch Area:___(1, 2)___ Point A:___(0, 3)___ Point B:___(-3, 0)___ Point C:___(-1, -4)___ Graph the coordinates of the specifics points in space your spacecraft will travel to. You must show your work on each question below. Determine the equation of the line, in standard form, that will get your spacecraft from the Launch Area to Point A. Determine the equation of the line, in point-slope form, that will get your spacecraft from Point A to Point B. Determine the equation of the line, in slope-intercept form, that will get your spacecraft from Point B to Point C. Convert the equation you arrived at in question 2 into slope-intercept form. Make sure to include all of your work. Reflect back on this scenario and each equation you created. Would any restrictions apply to the domain and range of those equations? Explain your reasoning using complete sentences. Submit your graph and responses to questions 1 through 6 to your instructor as 01.05 Writing the Equation of a Line.
Okay thats my assignment that I have to do but all the Point A to point B is confusing me...
lets fill in the specifics into the point slope format to get started: (a,b) = (2, -1): m=2 y - 2 = 2(x+1)
your assignment will require you to find the slope between 2 points, and also to utilize the different line formats
This is a really annoying thing especially since my teacher bailed out on me.
y - 2 = 2(x+1) lets work this out int y=mx + k, slope intercept form y = 2x +2+2 y = 2x + 4 now we can work thhis pretty easily into standard form
2x + y = 4?
almost ... lets subtract 2x from each side, then multiply thru by -1 y = 2x + 4 -2x -2x ------------- -2x+y = 4 -(-2x+y = 4) 2x-y = -4 the last step is just to get the leadinng x term positive
OH I forgot that whenever I put a number to the other side of the equal sign, it has to be negative
thats why you need to do math instead of 'moving'
if we subtract 2x from each side, we have moved nothing. we have simply performed a valid operation that keep both sides equal
So could you help me with this assignment? Like what am I supposed to do?
yes, the only thing i see we need to know are formats, and how to find the slope between 2 points
formats are easy enough, now what the format looks like and math one form into another. how would you find the slope between 2 points tho? since this is an important part of any line equation.
I dont know what you mean
?
if given 2 points, how do we determine the slope between them?
your material should have a slope formula in it to work with.
Launch Area:___(1, 2)___ Point A:___(0, 3)___ Point B:___(-3, 0)___ Point C:___(-1, -4)___
Please ignore the name I only put that name so I could find it in my downloads
plot the point for A
With what program though ?
just use the draw feature we have. and do your best to make a rough sketch
I'm sorry if I seem retarded or stupid I just was wondering..
