When should quotation marks be used? A. title of short works, title of long works, symbol for inches, direct quotation B. title of short works, humor or irony, symbol for feet, direct quotations and paraphrasing C. title of short works, strong emotion or emphasis, symbol for feet, indirect quotation D. title of short works, some cases of humor or irony, symbol for inches, direct quotation

I think the answer would be either A or D, but I'm leaning more towards D. All of the ones listed in answer A are correct, but I believe some cases of humour/irony would also call for quotations. I'd have to go with D if I had that on a test!
