OpenStudy (kkutie7):

Find the area of the region Sketch the region enclosed by the given curves. 2x + y2 = 8, x = y

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

So I know that the first thing you do is sketch the curves. I've done that. The next thing it to subtract the integral of the lower equation from the one on the top. I'm getting weird things with the first equation.

OpenStudy (rational):

can you also draw a rough sketch here so it helps others

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

should i see where they intersect each other? yeah I'll draw something quick

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to know where they intersect in order to know the limits of integration.

OpenStudy (rational):

did you eat the other part of parabola ?

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

\[x=\sqrt{8-2x}\] \[x^{2}=8-2x\] \[x^{2}+2x-8=0\] \[x=2,-4\]
