The central government's inability to regulate commerce which in turn devalued currency and resulted in economic rivalries between the states. This rebellion provided evidence of the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and the need for the regulation of commerce by government. Colonist frustration over unfair taxes from the newly formed government. The lack of a standing military to protect the colonists. Soldiers from England being housed in civilan residences.
