how is psychology different from philosophy??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Philosophy is the study of life and how humans interact with the world, psychology is the study of the human mind.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

All education traces back to Philosophy. Philo means to love and sophy means wisdom or knowledge. Everything was at one time or another Philosophy or the love of the knowledge in that field. The original degrees were things like "A Doctorate of Philosophy in Medicine" for a person that studied everything there was to know about medicine. However, as time goes on and things be more set, pretty much everything leaves Philosophy behind. They become their own fields. So Psychology is a specific field of study that has grown apart from prior fields. It is more than the mind. It encompasses behavior and causes of. So this covers bits of medicine and neuroscience, some sociology, some anthropology, and a lot of applied cognitive science. Much of it is applied to human behavior but animals are also studied.
